As a result of several queries from our customers about the implementation of the new Machine Directive 2006/42/CE, GMV would like to expose some information we are certain it will be of interest.
Safety is a crucial element that any user should require as well as any company should be able to guarantee.
On December 2009 came into force the new Machine Directive 2006/42/EC (which implies lifting devices whose speed does not exceed 0.15 m/s). In the new Directive, under the heading of safety and reliability, is highlighted that “A breakdown in the hardware or software of the control system should not lead to hazardous situations”.
Currently, the products that the market is offering are in compliance with the old Directive, since presently the security settings required have been increased.
This which means that, at the moment, not all the valve groups of the market can offer the necessary guarantees to comply the new Machine Directive 2006/42/EC. A recent study
proves that in such cases a dangerous situation can occur in an elevator if a breakdown happens on the way up or down. At the present, some companies are supplying optionally a complementary system called releveling (electrical leveling recovery system to the floor). This system DOES NOT comply what is exposed on the safety and reliability section of the new Machine Directive. According to a study dated 07/09/2010, in case of a breakdown due to leak oil, with a speed lower than 0.20 m/s, and the safety device of the valve group remaing open, the cabin would fall down the pit without any safety devices performing for such action.
Nevertheless, the market does offer solutions to be in compliance with the recent Machine Directive 2006/42/CE to ensure security for the user and peace for the installation company. This is the case of the mechanical 3010 control units with 2CH, or control units with electronic valve groups like the NGV which incorporates two safety devices.
GMV Eurolift S.A
GMV launches the new NGV A3, a valve unit which has been certified by TÜV Italy to be in compliance with the EN 81-2:A3 (in force since 1/07/2011). The new NGV A3 is already available with all GMV control units (with pump rate up to 600L/min) and is incorporating a double safety system as standard. Among its advantages we highlight: Self-control, accuracy and redundancy incorporating the Stepping System A3; Reduction on the installed power up to 40% with DRY control units; Better and easier adjustments with the programming console; And its eco-efficiency.
NGV A3 advantages:
NGV A3 technical features:
For the second consecutive year, GMV has performed a technical training at APA (Technical Architects of Barcelona, Granollers delegation) which was a success. The training lasted approximately 2 hours where the participants showed a great interest in hydraulic elevation systems.

On March 2011, the NGV electronic valve group received the TÜV certification in complianceto the Standard EN 81-2:A3, which is coming into force at the end July of 2011.
The Standard EN 81-2:A3 requires more stringent safety measures according to section9.13 “protection against the uncontrolled movement of the cabin”. This requires a doublesupport with self-control which has to prevent the uncontrolled movement of the cabin withits doors and also the floor doors open. This support should be subjected to a type test. Moreover, the protection measures are considered safety components, and therefore, they must be in compliance with chapter F9 of the Standard.
Meanwhile, GMV has developed the electronic valve group NGV A3, which with CE certificate has a double safety system self-controlled as standard in compliance with the specific sections of EN 81-2: A3.
Thanks to the electronic technology the valve group NGV A3, that can be used with biodegradable fluid, a better comfort level can be achieved as well as a higher speed up to 1m/s. Furthermore, the facility consumption can be reduced up to 20% or 40%. Besides, due to the programming console the regulation and maintenance is easier and at the same time offers more security to the worker.
10.000 kg).

For the 5th consecutive year, GMV participated as a speaker at the Master in Architectural Installations on Building and Sustainability at the Foundation UPC (Polytechnic University of Catalonia).
The conference given by the GMV engineers on hydraulic solutions in vertical transport was a success. They explained the hydraulic system advantages over other elevation systems where space is limited. The conference lasted approximately 1.30h and 40 participants of both architecture and engineering sectors took part. Events like this encourage us to improve and expand our training portfolio with new external training courses.
With active participation, GMV consolidated once again, its leading position in the hydraulic elevation market. Our main goal is to disseminate knowledge of hydraulic, and promoting its application in vertical transport facilities that will project future industry professionals.
